Corporate Action: Symbol Change
Ticker symbols can change when companies merge, change names, get delisted or go bankrupt. For example, when AOL Time Warner dropped the AOL and became simply Time Warner, it changed its symbol from AOL to TWX.
Note that any positions currently open under the stocks old ticker symbol will be closed at cost and reopened under the new symbol on the action date specified.
How to Change a Stock's Ticker Symbol
To update a symbol in PropReports, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Navigate to the Audit / Corporate Actions page.
Step 2: Select action: Symbol Change.
Step 3: Enter in the Old Symbol, New Symbol, and the Action Date. The action date should be the last date the security traded as the old symbol.
Click Preview to review and confirm the change.
