Symbology
General Notes
When importing data, PropReports will attempt to "normalize" ticker symbols to make them consistent. This is done in order to:
- Match up instrument specifications and pricing information with our market data sources.
- Provide a consistent presentation when aggregating trading activity from multiple sources of data.
- Facilitate reconciliation versus the clearing firm.
Naming rules:
- Each instrument must have a unique ticker symbol
- All symbols are UPPERCASE only and have no spaces.
- All instrument types other than equities have a unique single-character prefix (see below).
- All non-US-traded equities have a unique suffix. Please refer to the following list of exchanges and suffixes.
Equities
Equity symbols do not have a prefix. Use a '/' as a class designation separator and '-P' to indicate preferred stocks.

Options
Options begin with a '+' followed by the OSI symbol for the option (Underlyer + Expiration YYMMDD + C or P + strike price). FLEX symbols are also supported.

All pairs begin with an '@' followed by the three-letter (ISO 4217) codes for each of the two currencies (the base currency followed by the counter currency).

Futures
All futures start with a '/' followed by the root symbol, expiration month code and expiration year and ends with a suffix that represents the Exchange that the contract is traded on. Daily futures include the expiration day after the expiration month (two digits, 0 padded).

CFD
All CFDs start with a '%'.
- You can opt to use the underlying symbol directly in PropReports, if you do not need the CFD type designation. This will allow any overnight position to receive the standard closing price for the underlying symbol, if applicable. eg. use AAPL instead of %AAPL if CFD type does not need to be associated with symbol.
