When importing data, PropReports will attempt to "normalize" ticker symbols to make them consistent. This is done in order to:

  • Match up instrument specifications and pricing information with our market data sources.
  • Provide a consistent presentation when aggregating trading activity from multiple sources of data.
  • Facilitate reconciliation versus the clearing firm.

Naming rules:

  1. Each instrument must have a unique ticker

  2. All symbols are UPPERCASE only and have no spaces.
  3. All instrument types other than equities have a unique single-character prefix (see below).

  1. All non-US-traded equities have a unique suffix.  Please refer to the following list of exchanges and suffixes.
Equities

Equity symbols do not have a prefix.  Use a '/' as a class designation separator and '-P' to indicate preferred stocks.
